I have been studying and practising yoga for 45 years and teaching individuals and groups for 30 years. I hold the British Wheel of Yoga Teacher Diploma (1987) and the Yoga Teacher and Therapist 1000-hour diploma from the Centre for Yoga Studies, Bristol (2008).
The yoga is mainly based on principles practised and taught by the renowned Sri T Krishnamacharya of Chennai in South India. This approach to yoga, often known as Viniyoga, includes movements and postures, prānāyāma (breath practices), relaxation techniques and simple meditation. The aim is to bring about a balance or reintegration of body, breath and mind.
Traditionally yoga and meditation were taught one-to-one or in very small groups, an effective way to learn, as there is time and space to personalise the teaching. Lessons can be tailored to your level of health and fitness, your wishes and lifestyle.
Yoga therapy is the therapeutic use of yoga to help alleviate or manage health conditions for example: back pain, anxiety, diabetes, MS, high blood pressure.
Vedic Chanting is the wonderful and profound practice of chanting mantras from the Vedas and Upanishads in Sanskrit. It has been preserved virtually unchanged through thousands of years. Every sound has significance – just listening to the sounds can produce beneficial effects, producing them even more so. After 2 years training with Radha Sundararajan I qualified as a Vedic chant teacher in 2014, and I continue my training by Skype and face-to-face.
I offer 1-to-1 yoga and 1-to-1 Vedic chant lessons in Dalwood or at a venue of your choice.
These sessions usually focus on designing a personal practice for you to do at home.
